Jeffrey Earl Warren’s professional career has had two parts. After graduating from Cal (where he played some football and much rugby) with honors in English, he spent the following 15 years in the advertising business. As a copywriter and Vice President/Creative Director of J. Walter Thompson in New York (and Later Senior Vice President of Foote-Cone-Belding in San Francisco), he received national recognition for his many television commercials, most notably for Ford Motor Co. As head of the Ford Forward Planning group in 1982, he quarterbacked the launch of the Ford Tempo, the most successful new car launch in Ford History.
While in New York, Jeff authored the fitness book, Mike Spino’s Mind/Body Running Program (published by Bantam). He also wrote magazine articles, newspaper pieces, local comedy roasts, and numerous videos and sales films.
In 1986, his father enticed him to take over the family real estate business back home in St. Helena, California. Specializing in vineyards and winery properties, Jeff is now President of James Warren & Son. His company is the leader in its field. A former partner in Freemark Abbey Winery, his knowledge of the wine industry has resulted in his being sought out by local and national media as an acknowledged authority. He is often quoted in the local San Francisco media and has been interviewed on Fox Business Channel (re: the proposal to ban fireplaces in San Francisco), Channel 4, Channel 5, Bernie Ward’s Show, Channel 50, Channel 9, and radio stations KFRC, KVINE, and KYA. He also appeared in the documentary, Super Chief, the story of his Grandfather, the late Chief Justice Earl Warren, which was nominated for an Oscar.
He keeps up his love of writing by doing a weekly column in the local St. Helena Star. His “Notes from St. Helena” column (depicting life in a small town) has garnered an international audience. For six years he had a weekly, hour-long radio show on KVINE in Napa California.
Jeffrey served as a trustee for the University of California Foundation and is currently a trustee of the Pacific Legal Foundation, the oldest conservative/libertarian public interest law firm in the United States. He is married to Cindy Warren and is a father of 3.
